DFG 238 is believed to be one of the final Bristol FS rear platforms Lodekka produced, marking the end of an iconic era in British double-deck design.

This Lodekka started its career at the Crosville’s Chester depot and spent most of its working life in the 1970s running across Chester, Mold, Rhyl and Wrexham with the occasional appearance as a rail replacement between Crewe and Chester.  It even briefly appeared at Denbigh during a fleet shortage which was very unusual during that time.

Withdrawn from service in 1981 as one of three remaining Lodekkas at Wrexham, it was purchased by S. E. Millington for preservation. It had been given a full repaint of Tilling Green, completed with gold “CROSVILLEL” lettering, preparing the bus for rallies and events. The bus then shortly spent some time up in Scotland before it was kindly donated to The Grampian Transport Museum.

DFG 238 today, stands as a historically significant survivor valued for its service history, distinctive character and status as one of the last Lodekkas ever built!
