Education Visits
Grampian Transport Museum is Aberdeenshire’s leading transport attraction — home to a unique, award-winning collection that brings school visits and educational trips to life.
Want to inspire your class and get hands-on with the storied history of transport?
GTM’s engaging exhibits help to educate and entertain pupils of all ages — from nursery schoolers through to primary, secondary and even higher education groups.
The museum is home to hundreds of fascinating displays, large and small — many of which can be enjoyed up close. Frequent visitor favourites include our grand old stagecoaches, a real working snowplough and a variety of classic and unusual cars spanning many decades — each with its own unique story to tell.
The GTM experience is all about ‘The Story of Going Places’. For us, that’s about taking a journey that makes learning about transport history memorable and enjoyable — opening doors to days gone by and, in doing so, helping us understand modern life that bit better.
Education and school group visits to Grampian Transport Museum are available on any standard opening day during the season (March-October annually), however this may not always be possible on event days.
Please get in touch with the GTM team if you have any questions and we’ll do our best to accommodate your group.
For school groups, we offer all necessary practicalities, including space to store bags and jackets and a comfortable indoor area for lunch should the weather be less than kind.
We like to conclude education group visits in memorable style, with a demonstration of the magnificent 1923 Mortier Dance Organ — a unique highlight for visitors of all ages!
If you’re a higher education student or researcher seeking information on a particular transport subject, Grampian Transport Museum is here to help.
Our extensive library and collection of photographs is available to assist with a wide range of projects, and we are committed to providing the greatest possible access to the material held by the museum. You can browse our library collection online here.
Whether you are interested in objects, researching transport heritage, or exploring a specialist topic, we will do our best to help. For further information, please submit an enquiry on the contact form (below) to discuss your requirements.
