Motorhomes & Campervans
GTM welcomes visitors travelling by campervan and in recent years we have worked hard to ensure there’s parking space and warm welcomes for campervan visitors from near and far.
Planning a road trip by motorhome or campervan in the North East of Scotland? You can now add an overnight at Grampian Transport Museum to your itinerary.
In response to the growing number of visitors travelling to us by campervan, GTM can offer free overnight parking spaces within the museum grounds during the open season (April to October each year).
Campervan parking is offered on a unsupported basis, available for a maximum stay of one night and is offered exclusively to visitors who have booked to visit the museum either on the day of arrival or before 4pm on the following day.
Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Once your booking is confirmed, campervans must arrive before 4:00 pm and report to museum reception upon arrival. You will then be permitted to stay overnight, free of charge, within the secure museum grounds.
Please note that the museum does not offer camping facilities, so campervans must be fully self-contained. While facilities are not provided, the grounds are quiet and secure, and are conveniently located close to local shops and eateries.
Please note:
- BBQs, fires, and similar open flames are strictly prohibited.
- Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times where possible.
- Campervans must park only in the designated spaces provided.
Overnight spaces are not available during event weekends. Please refer to the Events page for specific dates.
FAQs
Unfortunately not for now, this overnight parking offer currently only applies to self-contained campervans and motorhomes.
No, we don't — however if you require a campsite with more facilities such as toilet waste disposal, we can recommend Haughton Holiday Park, located a short distance from the museum grounds.
