The Aston Martin DB5 is often called “the most famous car in the world”, rising to popularity due to its use in the James Bond movie franchise.

The DB5 is the legacy of David Brown, with his initials marking not just a brand but a partnership between elegance and speed. The DB5 evolved from the DB4, featuring a 4 litre inline six cylinder engine, producing 282 bhp.

GRAND TOURER

The “DBs” were designed for “grand touring” in a time prior to speed limits, the new designs were adapted to travel fast and to endure the high demand from their drivers. A powerful vehicle with a luxurious interior, elegance and aerodynamic design, Brown’s designs proved that elegance would not have to be compromised with performance. Solidifying their position in international motoring, Aston Martin launched their DBs into racing, winning the 24 Hour Le Mans race in 1959 with the DBR1.

DB5 GAINS POPULARITY

This DB5 might look familiar from the James Bond movie franchise. In 1964, The DB5 became the vehicle of choice for the fictional character and MI6 agent, James Bond after its first appearance in “Goldfinger”, and in multiple James Bond movies and games thereafter. It was fictitiously fitted with gadgets such as machine guns, tyre shredding blades, smoke emitters and much more.

This DB5 is finished in its most iconic colour, “Silver Birch,” showcasing the perfect blend of elegance and raw performance. Its character aligned seamlessly with that of 007, securing its status as an automotive icon. The ‘Superleggera’ insignia on the bonnet refers to the vehicle’s finish. Designed by Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera, the DB5 uses a magnesium‑alloy skin over a steel tubular frame, contributing to its sleek proportions and luxurious grand‑touring character.
