YOUR MUSEUM VISIT

The Museum owns various historically important local vehicles, including the Craigievar Express, a steam powered tricycle built in 1895, the Sentinel Steam Waggon of 1914, the Albion Fire Engine, and the beautifully restored Cruden Bay Tram. Our exhibits change annually (see Gallery page for details) and many can be climbed aboard. DVD displays provide further interest and enable you to see many of the vehicles in action.

There are numerous indoor and outdoor events and shows held at the museum each year and full details can be found in our whats on section.  The museum holds many exciting events over the Spring and Summer, including the Ride-On Fun Day in May, where children can ride historic vehicles around the purpose built museum track, the classic car show MOTORVATION!, the entirely new Military Vehicle Tattoo, the Grampian Motorcycle Convention and Alford Autojumble in September. Look out for children's holiday activities, including SUPERCAR rides!

The Museum is open every say from 21st March to October between 10am to 5pm (4pm in October).

FACILITIES

When you are at the museum you can visit the "Traveller's Rest Cafe" (Open daily in July/August and on Sundays during the rest of the season) for something to eat and drink, and enjoy listening to the Mortier Dance Organ playing.

The parking is extensive and free and there is an outdoor picnic area just outside the museum. Don't forget to visit the shop which offers a wide variety of attractive souvenirs and an excellent range of transport publications and models, and for those of you who who would like to visit regularly a membership package offers free entry to museum and events for a year. (See membership page for details).

Wheelchair users can access the majority of displays and all the vehicle displays, as well as the shop, cafe, education room and a disabled Superloo. There is dedicated parking and a wheelchair inside for visitor use. There is limited access to the balcony display area due to stairs, but a new computer interactive system enables you to explore this difficult to access area virtually.  There are plans to install a lift in 2009. Museum displays feature large print information and an audioguide is also available.
